Winter Olympics
PyeongChang 2018
In 2016, my husband and I were offered an opportunity to move abroad for his job. While we were hesitant to leave friends and family behind, we went for it, and moved to Seoul, South Korea.
Our experience living in Seoul has been better than we ever could have imagined. Living far from home in a place that's primary language is different from your own might sound overwhelming, but there is nothing like truly immersing yourself in someone else's culture. We have met wonderful people, traveled to new places, and of course, tasted all the delicious things that Seoul has to offer. We are beyond grateful for such a positive experience.
We felt especially lucky to be in Seoul during the Winter Olympics. Talk about finding yourself in the right place at the right time...
Although we were both raised in Southern California, we grew up passionate about winter sports and could not be more thrilled to experience a Winter Olympics first hand. We spent a few days in PyeongChang and attended a handful of our favorite events, including speed skating, bobsled, and even Ladies Giant Slalom where we witnessed Mikaela Shiffrin win Gold for Team USA!
It was a truly magical experience, not only to be there but to also see so many countries come together to celebrate this long-standing tradition, including two Koreas. Words can not express how grateful I feel to have experienced the Olympics in Korea.
